About – Biography

Laura Flowers is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Nationally Certified Herbalist practicing in San Diego.  She is licensed in both CA and NY.  She holds a Doctorate of Chinese Medicine (DACM) from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, where she is on faculty and teaching in the Herbology Department. Laura is also a certified practitioner of the Sandlin Technique and is certified by Virginia Doran in facial rejuvenation acupuncture.  For twenty years, Laura was a professional dancer and choreographer.  She taught dance at various schools and institutions in New York, including the José Limón School and Long Island University. She holds a BFA in Dance from Adelphi University and an MFA from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts.

Laura has completed a three-year course in Medical Qigong.  She frequently travels to China to further her practice of Qigong and meditation.  Her teachers include Masters Yuanming Zhang and Fukui Yang.

Laura’s study of ancient medical classics, and Confucian, Buddhist and Daoist philosophical writings deepens her understanding of the roots of East Asian medicine and informs her work with patients.

She combines her extensive knowledge of body alignment and muscle function with eastern and western healing modalities to help people lead more easeful, balanced lives.
