Other Services

These services can be included in your treatment as an add-on or complementary depending on the treatment.

Eastern Nutrition

The Chinese Medical approach includes attention to diet and nutrition. Eating is, after all, an integral part of our lives. The right combination of food can strengthen the immune system, ease chronic inflammation and digestive conditions, help restore the skin, and aid in weight reduction. Dietary recommendations need not be restrictive. They are based on the concerns, preferences, and needs of each patient.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a bodywork technique used as a home remedy in many parts of Asia. A smooth, flat tool is used to gently press and scrape the skin to affect underlying muscles. The friction and directional motion helps to alleviate muscle soreness and tension. Gua Sha promotes circulation, releases toxins and restores normal metabolism.

Cupping

In cupping, oxygen is removed from glass cups as they are placed on different locations of the body, creating a vacuum effect. This reverse acupressure gently lifts the muscles and fascia, bringing increased circulation to the area.

Sliding cupping is achieved by using a therapeutic oil on the skin and applying the cups. This allows the cups to be slid along the area, such as the back, to create this reverse massage effect. Benefits include reduction in pain, muscle tightness and inflammation, as well as increased range of motion in the affected area. When focused on the upper back, cupping also eases symptoms of the common cold, pneumonia, bronchitis and other respiratory conditions.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion, often combined with acupuncture, uses the herb moxa (Mugwort or Artemisia Vulgaris). Moxa is burned and allowed to smolder like an incense stick held above the skin, or positioned on the inserted needle. The conduction of heat warms and stimulates circulation for a smoother flow of Qi and blood. This therapy has been used to raise white blood cell counts in severely debilitated patients and has helped reposition breech babies.

Infrared Therapy (Heat Lamp and AcuMat)

Infrared therapy reduces inflammation, helps with tissue regeneration, improves circulation and detoxifies the body. It is used to treat pain, especially chronic pain. This therapy can also improve quality of sleep and boosts metabolism. Acu-Mat contains seven stones relating to the chakras and can be incorporated into your acupuncture, facial, or low level light therapy treatments.

Crown Chakra (Amethyst) – Assists with physical and emotional issues.

Third Eye Chakra (Sodalite) – Brings emotional balance and enhances self-esteem.

Throat Chakra (Blue Lace Agate) – Assists with verbal expression of thoughts and feelings.

Heart Chakra (Green Aventurine) – Dissolves negative emotions and thoughts.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Yellow Aventurine) – Helps focus intentions and provides ease in being yourself.

Sacral Chakra (Carnelian) – Promotes positive life choices and motivates for success.

Root Chakra (Red Jasper) – Brings insight into difficult situations and calms the emotions.

Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)

Low Level Light Therapy, also known as Photo Biomodulation, improves the skin’s appearance by increasing collagen production, helping to firm and tighten the skin, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Our free-standing, professional grade Acu-light contains different wavelengths (red, yellow, blue and combinations of red/yellow, yellow/blue, red/blue).

Red light increases production of collagen in the skin and stimulates ATP in cells for anti-aging properties. It can improve sleep by increasing production of melatonin and stimulate the lymphatic system to strengthen immunity. It is also used to improve recovery time from sports and injuries and reduces inflammation on the skin and just below the skin for arthritis and acute wound healing.

Blue Light is used to treat acne. The treatment is directed at the dermal layer of skin to kill the bacteria that causes inflammation from clogged follicles. In addition to killing the bacteria, the blue light triggers a pigment in the body to have a chemical reaction, producing peroxide that will kill any lingering bacteria.

Yellow Light is used to treat rosacea, eczema, red spots, melasma and hyperpigmentation. It is used for any type of hot skin with erythema. It can also treat bruising, spider veins and cysts.
